Brane Project,

Investigation cell of new sound territories

In the formalism of string theory a p-brane is an extended object, p corresponding to the number of spatial dimensions involved du describe it. When two branes cross eachother, they give birth to new universes. Each brane having its proper vibratorial caracteristics, multiple kinds of created universes can come out of this process. The Brane Project collective took inspiration from this concept in order to propose the public new sonic horizons, coming out from the creative vibrations of his composers. These multi dimensionals universes can be experienced right in the heart of our surounding diffusion sound system.

Like a p-brane, Brane Project is build around multiple dimensions. This acoustick research cell origins from four entities, each person bringing complementary skills to create a common approach of sound architecture aestetic: the possibility to create a sound dispositive wich can literraly suround and invade the listener providing him a journey into sound. One of the most basic formant of this cell is the common will to tell stories. In other words experience sound landscaping in the best acoustic conditions possibles.

Since it's creation, each place that our collective invested, was transformed, re-dimensioned, the speaker network shape the space, always fitting the place in a singular way.The sound corpus extending and moving along the availalble spaces find is own sitting, whispering, shouting, modeling the space keept into darkness. The depth can be felt, when abandoning his mind to his ears, the confident auditor closes his eyes, it's a new universe wich is offered to him; he start to see what his sight prevented him to catch.

The team

Robert Kieffer Sound hunter, wave miner, autodidact musician, Robert falled in love with sound in all its aspects. PhD in particle physics having spent more than ten years as a researcher at CERN. Since 2020 he has professionally switched to being full time a music performer and an inventor of new musical instruments. He is a founding member of Brane Project for wich he conceived the electroacoustic sound system. The music he composes comes from it's own crafted instruments, and most of the field recording sources he uses have been picked-up by himself all around the world over the last two decades.

Gaëtan Parseihian
Composer of electroacustic music and researcher in the domain of sonic perception. In 2006, he created Brane Project together with three collaborators. In this group, he is working on putting sound into space and he composed and adapted numerous pieces into multitrack format. He has been trainee at CRD de Pantin (FR), and Cité de la Musique de Marseille (FR) and he played his musical creations as an interpret on renowned multichanel sound systems. He is also a member of the Soma collective and associated artist of the deletere collective (Marseille FR). Meanwhile he is PhD in acoustics, specialised in sensory acoustics perception, human machine interface, sound spatialisation techniques, and the perception of sound into space. He have performed his researches at IRCAM (Paris FR), at LIMSI-CNRS (FR), LMA (FR), PRISM-CNRS (FR) and collaborated with Décor Sonore .
